The Spanish coach praises the decisive attacking quartet for the victory over Brighton
Arsenal ended the year by beating Brighton to isolate themselves at the top of the Premier League table. The Londoners obtained a good victory with the score 4 – 2. A great result for coach Mikel Arteta, who celebrated the three points won in a difficult and demanding match.
Despite the three points, Arteta showed some perplexity in defence, which didn’t take away from the Spaniard’s satisfaction with the result obtained.
– It was a great victory against a very good team. We said before that it would be difficult to get out of here with the three points. The credits go to the team. We put ourselves in a great position to win the game and sometimes we had to suffer. We could have done better in defence, but I’m very happy with the result,” Arteta said.
The manager also praised the forwards’ performance. They all scored in the away win – Odegaard, Martinelli, Saka and Nkethiah – and the Basque was praised for the foursome’s attacking work.
– To worship. This is what they have to do. They play at the forefront to decide matches. This is what we train for and we need it. Today they helped a lot. The timing, cohesion and understanding between them is improving and this is important for the team.
Arsenal ends 2022 as an isolated leader with 43 points. Seven more than Manchester City. The Londoners’ next match is on January 3, against Newcastle.
