“Wednesday” became a huge hit on Netflix, so much so that in anticipation of news of a second season, hundreds of fans have been recreating Merlina’s iconic dance scene.
The series’ popularity led Netflix to renew Tim Burton’s production. Although no details have been given about his story, with the end of the first season of ‘Wednesday’ there is a lot to look forward to.

More Mysteries and Dark Secrets of Nevermore Academy on “Wednesday”
In an interview with Tudum in January 2023, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said that the second season will further explore the strange and terrifying world of Nevermore, the school for outcasts and teenage monsters.
This was also reported by Jenna Ortega on Entertainment Tonight on November 30, 2022, saying that she wants the second season to be much darker.
Tyler and Laurel Gates could return as villains
Although Tyler is caught at the end of the first season, in the last scene in which he appears he transforms into Hyde and implies that he is escaping. So he could be the main villain of the next season.
Likewise, the fate of Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci) was left unclear, after being attacked by Eugene’s bees, Merlina stomped on her violently, but it’s never explained if she’s dead or it was just a blow that left her unconscious.
So Laurel with her years playing teacher Thornhill could have convinced or worked with someone other than Tyler to get revenge on the castaways and in season two try to murder Merlina again.
- Christina Ricci is also inside the movie “10 Things to Do Before We Break Up”, which you can watch for free on ViX.
More from the Addams Family in “Wednesday” Season 2.
Having only been sent to Nevermore Academy, the Addams family makes few appearances, so Merlina’s relationship with her parents, uncle and brother could be further explored for season two.
Fans definitely want to see more of Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Homer or Gomez (Luis Guzmán), Pericles or Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), Uncle Lucas or Fester (Fred Armisen) and even Uncle Thing (who appeared on “Wednesday” but few saw).
Even producer Miles Millar promised that the second season will focus more on the Addams family dynamic, admitting to TVLine on November 24, 2022, that there is a lot about their relationship to explore.
Merlina and Enid as friends in “Wednesday” season 2
Although in the series Merlina is antisocial and starts her friendship with werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) off on the wrong foot, they slowly hit it off and the Addamses’ goth daughter even embraces her.
The actors’ excellent on-screen chemistry has fans wanting them to be much more than friends for season two, even naming them ‘Wenclair’ (combining Wednesday and Sinclair).
Both Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers have talked about the possibility of Merlina and Enid becoming friends on Wednesday, so there’s a chance the writers will make it happen.
Bianca’s mother would be the villain in “Wednesday” season 2
One of the under-explored mysteries in the show’s first season was the complicated relationship between popular mermaid Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday) and her cult-like mother Gabrielle.
In the first season, Bianca’s mother pursues her to use her powers of persuasion and keep the Morning Song group, led by the mysterious Gideon.
The cult could be the central focus of the new season, with Merlina once again using her investigative skills to uncover the mermaid cult’s intentions and help her friend/foe Bianca.
Are there any other unresolved stories or plots from the first season that you’d like to see? What do you think the second season of ‘Wednesday’ will be?
