DC boss reveals he’s writing a future series at the studio

DC is undergoing further changes and transformations following the arrival of James Gunn as co-CEO of DC Studios. In addition to spearheading this new era of publishing in theaters and on TV, Gunn has apparently also worked as a writer on a few productions, including a yet to be “announced” series.

“My day: I wrote a third of an unannounced DC TV show; I did 100 VFX shots, did acting references for Rocket, and wrote editing notes for Guardians of the galaxy vol 3; and had two big DC Studios meetings,” Gunn wrote on Twitter.

Naturally, after Gunn’s tweet, debates ensued and many fans started speculating on social media. Many have bet on a series with a forgotten DC superhero and among the characters, Zatanna, Adam Strange and Booster Gold were some of the theorized names. Other users have speculated about a project involving Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis.

While fans will have to wait to find out what that project will be, it shouldn’t be long before Gunn’s plans for DC are made public. The director recently said part of the slate developed with producer Peter Safran has an eight to 10-year schedule for the studio.

“We’ve spent the last few days with a group of some of the best thinkers in the business, the best writers in the business, starting to map out this eight- to 10-year plan of what it’s going to look like in theater, on TV, in animation, across the board for these characters,” said Gunn, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Another recent comment from Gunn concerned the rumors that Wonder Woman would not be included in the early years of the DC universe, which he was denied. Furthermore, the director also spoke about his new vision for the future of the publisher in the area of films and series.

“The opportunity to make DC as good as it can be and how it should be — that’s why I’m doing this job because I know Peter and I can do it,” Gunn revealed of his and Safran’s plans.
