Blanc’s husband has spoken.

‘Glass Onion’ star cameo lead, Hugh Grant, has spoken about the romance between his character and dashing detective, Benoit Blancplayed by Daniel Craig.
The sequel to ‘Stabs in the Back’ sees Grant (in a very brief appearance) giving life to Philip, Bla’s husbandnc. When Janelle Monáe’s character shows up at the detective’s house, it is Philip who answers the door, wearing an apron and a jar of sourdough in hand.
“It’s true, I’m married to James Bond,” joked Grant in an interview with Collider.
“It’s a tiny moment. I don’t really know why they wanted to do it but it doesn’t matter… I thought ‘Puñales por la Espalda’ had been brilliant, so I thought: why not? And I hung out there for a few hours…“
This moment (as well as writer-director Rian Johnson’s comments that Blanc is “obviously” gay at last year’s London Film Festival press conference) have sparked debate about the character’s sexuality.
Although some have remained skeptical of the film’s LGBTQ+ representation (due to the shortness of the clip), other fans of the franchise have seen Grant’s appearance and Johnson’s words as confirmation that Blanc is, of course, happily married to a man and that the film need not explore further on the matter.
Whether we’ll get to know more about Grant in ‘Knives in the Back 3’ is still unclear. We will have to wait to see it.
‘Daggers in the Back’ is available in streaming between Netflix movies. ‘Glass Onion’ is also available on Netflix.
