Part 2 Title Revealed!
It seems incredible but it’s been 10 years since it premiered ‘Avatar’, James Cameron’s new bet to move cinema forward in a new direction. During those 10 years, it was the highest grossing film in history (until ‘Avengers: Endgame’ snatched the honor in 2019) and, although critics were not enthusiastic, seeing the production on the big screen, with its effects revolutionaries, it was a truly immersive experience.
The second part, ‘Avatar 2’, was announced for 2015, but due to several problems (it is a very technical film, with great special effects), its premiere has been delayed year after year although, finally, it seems that we will be able to enjoy Pandora again on the big screen very soon. We compile all the information we have about this late sequel that will mark the return to the big screen of the blockbuster James Cameron and will start the path of a saga that has taken a long time to start. In this decade of the 2020s, we will get a lot of adventures starring the Na’vi in Pandora. But let’s start with the first: When is ‘Avatar 2’ released? What’s the story about? Which characters will return and who joins the cast? Do we already have images or a trailer?
‘Avatar 2’: Release date
The release date of ‘Avatar 2’ is December 16, 2022. As confirmed from 20th Century Studios in early 2022, the date remains intact and there will be no further delays.
‘Avatar 2’: Synopsis
The official title of this second part will be: ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’a name that was already spoken in 2018, according to information that was already published with the names of all the sequels. Cameron had mentioned that the rumors of that title were true.
James Cameron has been giving us notes about it: “The story of the sequels will follow Jake, Neytiri and their children. It’s more of a family saga and their problems with humans”. Cameron has insisted that we will see new characters, new locations of Pandora and, above all, the planet’s oceans. James Cameron is pioneering a new form of underwater filming, and plans to once again revolutionize the world of digital effects in film.
Producer Jon Landau made it clear: the film will focus on family. “This is the story of the Sully family and what one person does to keep their family together. Jake and Neytiri have a family in this movie, they are forced to leave their home, so they go outside and explore different regions of Pandora. , spending time in the water, around the water, on the water… I think, the reason why people turn to cinema more than ever today is because they want to escape, escape from the world we live in, escape the pressures they have in their lives.
The latest news, also said by Landau himself, reveals that Sully’s family arrives at a reef where there will be a new clan, called Metkayina. The change of place will mean that the Sullys will not be in a safe environment, it will be both a cultural and environmental change.
To his new family belongs Miles Socorro, alias Spider, a human child played by Jack Champion of whom we already have this image:

‘Avatar 2’: Cast
In ‘Avatar 2’ Sam Worthington will return as Jake Sully; Zoe Saldana as Neytiri; Stephen Lang as General Miles Quaritch and Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine… although the latter is not entirely clear, since Weaver stated that he would play a new character, and that this would evolve throughout the sequels.
There is also the signing of Kate Winsletin a role we don’t know much about yet; Jamie Flatters, who will play Neteyam, one of Jake and Neytiri’s sons; Britain Dalton, who will be Lo’ak’s middle child; and Trinity Bliss, who will play her daughter Tuktirey.
In addition, there is a new signing: David Thewlisthe mythical Lupine in the saga of ‘Harry Potter’, who will play a Navi: “I am a blue thing that I did not understand very well when I spoke with Cameron. I was quite surprised that he offered it to me, but now I really want to see the result because those characters bear a certain resemblance to the actors who played them. It’s fantastic!”

‘Avatar 2’: Director
James Cameron returns to command his planetary epic, and has in mind a key element to revolutionize the world of cinema again: shoot the film in 3D mixed 4K, and that viewers do not need special glasses to experience said 3D. This technique currently exists but it is so expensive and complex that it is not commercially viable… Except for good old James?
‘Avatar 2’: Trailer, poster and images
For now we don’t have a trailer for ‘Avatar 2‘ but, as rumored, we can enjoy it together with ‘Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness’, which opens on May 6.
What we do have is a first poster and some images that we have been seeing in this article:

We have also been seeing photos of the shooting, which show the spectacular nature of the project. In fact, in those circumstances, Winslet surpassed Tom Cruise when it came to holding her breath underwater.

The preparation of the film will continue to give us such spectacular images these months.
