The Mato Grosso team had a very good season in Liga BFA last year
After finalizing the coach, Smile Hornets begins announcing signings for the 2023 season PRODUCTION. The Mato Grosso team agreed with linebacker Vinicius Guerra and wide receiver Eduardo da Silva.
With good experience within the football in the Northeast, Vinicius Guerra started at Recife GADS, then migrated to the Recife Vikings and had more success on the Santa Cruz Pirates squad. The defenseman was a 2018 Cities Cup and LINEFA champion and, the following year, participated in the Pernambuco Bowl title campaign. Additionally, he has previously played for Tropa Campina, Rondonópolis Hawks and even had a short stint in 2021 for the sub-23 here at Smile Hornets.
Wide receiver Eduardo da Silva has seven years of experience in American football playing for São Luís Sharks and being part of the winning team of Desafio da Ilha (2021), the athlete also accumulates titles in flag football. The receiver also had a brief stint with the under-23 Smile Hornets in 2021.
In late 2022, Sorriso Hornets announced the hiring of Heitor Medeiros as the team’s head coach.
Last year, Smile Hornets was champion of the Central-West Conference of the Brazilian American Football League (Liga BFA) and finished fourth in the competition after being defeated by the T-Rex. The team also competed in the Taça Brasil Hinova but was eliminated by the Cruzeiro FA.
