The life of the King of Pop will be brought to the big screen by the director of ‘Training Day’.
It was about time. After the successful biopics of Freddie Mercury (‘Bohemian Rhapsody’), Elvis (‘Elvis’) and Marilyn Monroe (‘Blonde’), it is the turn of another of the most powerful icons in the world of entertainment: Michael Jackson, the King of Pop.
Antoine Fuquaresponsible for ‘Training Day’ and the saga ‘The Equalizer’, to direct a biopic about the tumultuous life of Michael Jackson scripted by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan.
‘Michael’which will be called, “It will give audiences an insightful and never-before-told portrait of the complicated man who became the King of Pop.. The film will explore all aspects of Michael Jackson’s life, including his most iconic performances that led him to become the best artist of all time”, according to the press release.
“The first films of my career were music videos, and I still feel that combining film and music is a deep part of who I am.” Fuqua remarked. “To me, there is no artist with the power, charisma, and sheer musical genius of Michael Jackson.. I was influenced to do what I do by seeing his work: the first black artist to play on MTV. His music and those images are part of my world view, and the opportunity to tell his story on screen along with his music was irresistible.”
The truth is Michael Jackson’s life would give not only for a movie, but for a series of several seasons. From his rocky beginnings as a child star to his controversial and untimely death, the King of Pop became the best-selling artist of all time between disturbing accusations about his friendship with minors and psychological problems of body dysmorphic disorder.
For now It is not known who will play Michael Jacksonbut without a doubt this is one of those roles that redefines an actor’s career. Who will be the chosen one?
