La Casa de Papel on Netflix: Discover the new mask of the Korean version!

Before the spin-off of La Casa de Papel, dedicated to the iconic Berlin character played by Pedro Alonso, aired in 2023, fans of the Spanish TV series will be able to quickly discover the world of masked robbers with a Korean remake. A popular Netflix hit.

The platform has indeed released Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, namely, June 24th. And this is a well-known actor for Squid Game fans who takes on the role of Berlin in this Korean version, as it is Park He-soo who played Cho Sang-woo (player 218).

The professor who recounts the video above and declares an unusual robbery is played by Yo Ji-tae, which we have already seen in Old Boy. The role of Seon Vujin, the leader of the Crisis Negotiation Group during the robbery – the equivalent of Raquel Murillo in the Spanish version – was chosen by actor Kim Eunjin, known for his role as the Sun in Lost.

This teaser of the series, created by Ryu Yong-jae (co-writer of the movie Peninsula) and Alex Pina, to whom we owe the original producer and executive producer of the remake, is also an opportunity to introduce you to a new mask. Considered one of the most beautiful and famous images of Korean culture, the haoetal masks are worn during the Hahoe Pyolshin-gut t’al nori ceremony, which dates back to the 12th century. They represent typical characters for interpreting the roles of the ritual dances included in the ceremony.
