The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 2023 Oscar nominations. The 95th award ceremony will take place on the night of March 12 in Los Angeles.
The nominees for Best Film of the Year are James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of the Water, Martin McDonagh’s Banshee Inisherin, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, Edward Berger’s All Quiet on the Western Front, and Daniel’s All Around the Same Time. Scheinert and Dan Kwan, Steven Spielberg’s Fabelmans, Todd Field’s Tar, Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick, Reuben Ostlund’s Triangle of Sorrows and Sarah Polley’s Women Speak.
Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Paul Mescal and Bill Nighy will compete for the Best Actor nomination. Cate Blanchett, Ane de Armas, Andrea Riseborough, Michelle Williams, and Michelle Yeoh could win the Best Actress award.
Best Director nominees are Martin McDonagh, Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Steven Spielberg, Todd Field and Ruben Östlund. The title of “Best Original Screenplay” is claimed by “Inisherin’s Banshee”, “Everything Everywhere and At Once”, “Fabelmans”, “Tar” and “Triangle of Sorrow”. Best Adapted Screenplay can go to All Quiet on the Western Front, Knives Out: The Glass Onion, To Live, Top Gun: Maverick and Women’s Gossip.
Best Supporting Actress could go to Angela Bassett, Hong Chau, Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu and Kerry Condon. Brendan Gleeson, Brian Tyree Henry, Judd Hirsch, Barry Keoghan and Ke Huy Quan are up for Best Supporting Actor.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has chosen the host for the 95th Academy Awards. They will again be comedian and host of his own evening show Jimmy Kimmel.
