The list of Oscar-nominated films has already been released, and some acclaimed ones have been left out. Check out the snubbed movies that won’t be in contention
In view of the 2023 Oscars, the Academy has already released the names of the competitors for the most coveted statuette in cinema. One of the most snubbed films at the 2023 Oscars was The King Woman, released in September 2022 and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. The action drama starred acclaimed Viola Davis and was expected to receive a nomination in the Best Actress category, or for the work to at least appear in the Best Costume Design category. But unlike that, the film was snubbed and ended up not being nominated for any category.

After the success of Run! And Weby director Jordan Peele, expectations for Not! Do not look! were high, and the film was a hit with the general public and film critics, achieving good results on Rotten Tomatoes. But that wasn’t enough for him to be nominated for an Oscar, and this time he was out of the picture.
The King Woman

With an emotional and necessary story, and with exquisite performances by most of the cast, the feature film written by Dana Stevens raised more than 90 million US dollars (approximately R$ 450 million) and became a box office hit, pleasing the public. but not the Academy.
Babylon
Released in early 2023, Babylon it also garnered a few Oscar nominations, but only in the Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Score categories. In Best Picture, the feature was seen as ships and had no chance of winning a statuette.

The plot tells the story of Hae-joon (Park Hae-il), a hardworking young inspector who has his life changed when the body of a climber is found at the base of a steep rocky mountain.
Blending suspense, drama and a little romance, this crime production won over audiences, but was left out of the dispute.
RRR
Another international feature that was due to compete in the Best Foreign Language Film category was The Indian RRR. Running for around three hours, the film captivated audiences but failed to win over the Academy.
Not to mention the film has no chance at the awards, it could still win a statuette in the Best Original Song category with Naatu Naatu.
