Actress Eva Green sues producers of unreleased film for $1 million

Actress Eva Green, whose debut took place in Bernardo Bertolucci’s cult and provocative drama The Dreamers, has filed a lawsuit against the creators of the film The Patriot. Filming of the tape was stopped in 2019. The actress demanded to pay her a fee of a million dollars, despite the closure of the project.

According to the Daily Mail, Green recalled that she acted not only as an actress, but also as a producer. Because of this, she is subject to the “pay-or-play” rule, which means she must receive payments in any case, even if the film is not released. The production company White Lantern Films made retaliatory demands.

The actress was accused of insults. The company’s lawyers claim that Green had no desire or intention to complete filming. The court was provided with personal correspondence in which the star spoke negatively about colleagues. Eva called executive producer Jake Seal “evil”, “scheming sociopath” and “a liar and crazy”. Also, the 42-year-old actress spoke sharply about the director of the picture, Terry Bird, calling him a “moron”.

Defender Greene made a statement in the Supreme Court of London. Lawyer Edmund Cullen claims that former colleagues deliberately harm the star.

This case is provided to portray my client as a diva, to attract attention and damage her reputation. She repeatedly agreed to delay the start of principal photography. She agreed to move production from Ireland to the UK and offered to use part of her royalties to finance production costs, Cullen explained.

According to the lawyer, the messages should be seen as “an informal outpouring of a stream of consciousness.” Edmund noted that opponents are trying to “blame Mrs. Green for all the failures of production.” The lawsuit states that Green wanted to bring in Paul Saroni as a line producer, insisting that the film could not be made without him. In addition, Greene wanted special effects artist George Zuer to work on The Patriot.

Earlier, Eva Green publicly spoke out in support of Johnny Depp in his conflict with Amber Heard. The actress took the side of a longtime friend with whom she was suspected of having an affair.
