A few weeks ago, news broke that Antoine Fuqua would direct a biopic about controversial music megastar Michael Jackson. Speculation naturally turned to who Jackson might have played, and now we have an answer: the singer’s 26-year-old nephew, Jaafar Jackson.
Jackson, son of Michael’s brother Jermaine, has established a social media presence as a talented singer and dancer, but that role appears to be fraught with difficulties. And if the team behind the film were looking to somehow defuse this, casting one of Jackson’s extended family members wouldn’t seem like the best option.
Yet the exciting project by producer Graham King and writer John Logan aims to trace Jackson’s rise to fame, his troubled family life, his musical career, but without ignoring his chaotic personal life, plastic surgery and pedophilia allegations that dogged his later years. . until his death in 2009 at the age of 50, from cardiac arrest caused by a cocktail of sedatives.
The film, simply titled miguel at this point, it’s likely to be filmed later this year.
