Purchasing movies on VOD allows the viewer to discover cut scenes such as Blu-ray bonuses. This applies to Red Alert, which had to delete several scenes before coming to Disney +.
Disney has made available for purchase VOD, Red Alert, the latest Pixar released in March 2022 on the Disney + platform. This little animated gem follows Miley, a lush and passionate 13-year-old girl who is torn between her image as a model girl and her devotion to her mother and the chaos of adolescence.
His protective, even slightly authoritarian mother is never far from her daughter, a reality that is not always easy to manage for a teenager. And as if the disgusting changes associated with puberty are not enough, when he is very excited (which he almost always is), he turns into a red panda (a-do-ra-ble). Giant!
Fans can now experience the early drafts of Red Alert and experience the turmoil caused by the appearance of the Red Panda with the bonus features seen so far, including seven deleted scenes, three feature and audio comments with the film’s director, Domee Shi.
In this first deleted scene, Domi explains that May is trying to elect a class representative and is participating in a debate to do so. But very quickly the panda appears and shakes his plans. But it was the whole scene that broke the film’s plans and was therefore deleted.
This second video reveals another narrative arc that is also completely aside. In this sequence, May’s parents’ temple is on the verge of bankruptcy, and May is then under enormous pressure to become the temple’s tourist attraction to save the family finances.
In this third video, titled “Panda Containing,” Domi explains why it was so important to him. It explores the dynamics of parent and child in Sino-American culture. This is also the story of the show, as May’s mother also experienced this stage of the “transition” by turning into a giant red panda at puberty. He then teaches May to restrain the panda by managing her emotions.
These three scenes could have been an added asset in Red Alert history, but in animation as well as in live action movies, filming is always a victim story.
