While Superman was, understandably, one of the most widespread key announcements James Gunn made today about his and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran’s plan for the future of their comic-to-tape output, there was also room for a another very suitable character: Batman.
Gunn presented a plan for Batman: The brave and the bold, adapting Grant Morrison’s acclaimed series. “It’s the story of Damian Wayne, who is the real son of Batman that he didn’t know existed for the first eight or ten years of his life,” Gunn explains. “He was raised as a little killer and a killer. He is my favorite Robin. We’re putting it all together now.”
And who is Bruce Wayne this time? Someone new of course! “It’s the DCU’s introduction to Batman,” Gunn says. “It’s not Robert Pattinson. It’s not Ben Affleck. We are working with Robert on Batman – Part II with Matt Reeves, and we’re working with Ben Affleck, who’s been on our team trying to get things together and really wants to direct one of our projects. We are delighted that he is doing so.”
And according to Safran: “This will include other members of Bat’s extended family. Simply because we think they’ve been left out of Batman stories for too long.”
word of the BatmanNaturally, the sequel is encouraging for fans of Reeves’ work.
