‘The Snow Girl’: Will there be a second season of the new Netflix series?

Seen the end, everything indicates that there could be news soon.

Last Friday, February 27, ‘The Snow Girl’ arrived on Netflix, which has swept the platform and has become one of the Spanish Netflix series that you must see. Starring Milena Smit and José Coronado, the story, made up of six chapters, began with the disappearance of Amaya, a 5-year-old girl in the middle of the Three Kings parade. Thus began an absolute nightmare for her parents.

As we told in the explained ending of ‘The Snow Girl’, the outcome ended with Miren, the journalist played by Smit, at a signing of her new book, which is precisely titled ‘The Snow Girl’. There someone has left an envelope addressed to her in which it says “Do you want to play?” Inside is a photo of a gagged girl, with a name and a date: Laura Valdivia, 2012.

The story of the series is based on the successful novel by Javier Castillo. It came out in March 2020, and it became one of the most read novels during confinement. Although the man from Malaga centered his plot on the Thanksgiving parade in 1998, the guidelines followed by the production for television have been the same as the original text.

The adaptation has followed the same path as the novel: just one day after its release, the series has entered the top 3 most watched series in the world on Netflix. Given the good reception, it is not surprising that we soon know something about the sequel. It seems that Miren’s work solving cases of disappearance has not finished.

At the moment, Netflix has not announced anything about a second season of ‘The Snow Girl’. However, that ending that we saw as soon as the plot finished was related to Castillo’s other original novel, entitled ‘The Game of the Soul’. The plot of this book is about the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl who appears crucified. Miren Triggs, the journalist for the Manhattan Press, unexpectedly receives a mysterious envelope. Inside it is a Polaroid of another gagged and bound teenager, with a single notation: “Gina Pebbles, 2002.” Miren and Jim Schmoer, her former journalism professor, follow the trail of the girl in that image while investigating the New York crucifixion.

This second book is not officially a sequel to the previous case, but it does take place in the same environment and with the same characters.. And as we have commented, that synopsis sounds very similar to the ending seen in the series.

Everything indicates that the great giant of the streaming give the green light to future chapters, but in any case we will have to wait for official news. We will be awaiting the news.
