The premiere of the film “Tetris” with Russian actor Nikita Efremov and the star of the franchise “Kingsman” Taron Egerton will take place at the SXSW Film Festival in the USA. The preview will run from 10 to 19 March 2023. According to Deadline, the tape was directed by John Baird, who worked on the films “Mud”, “Hooligans”, “Feed the Beast” and many others.
Efremov played the main role in the tape – the Soviet programmer and creator of “Tetris” Alexei Pajitnov. Viewers will be told the story of how Dutch video game designer Hank Rogers, portrayed by Taron Egerton, fought for the rights to the cult game. The cast also includes Sofya Lebedeva, Anthony Boyle, Ben Miles, Ken Yamamura and Toby Jones.
Matthew Vaughn produced. Filming took place in Glasgow, Scotland, which the artists made up to look like the Soviet Union in the mid-1980s. The film was produced by Apple. An exact release date for the streaming service has yet to be announced. Most likely, Tetris will appear on the Apple TV + platform in the summer of 2023.
The American festival South by Southwest (SXSW) has been held annually since 1987 in Austin. In recent years, its duration is ten days. It includes a number of music, film and media festivals as well as conferences.
Earlier, work began on the second season of the series “Offline” with Efremov Jr. in the title role. The sequel to Kirill Pletnev’s detective thriller about the brilliant hacker Rust will be released in the Okko online cinema this year.
