Netflix’s Teen Ghostbusters has won criticism, but its post-release viewing numbers may not have been strong enough to save it from Netflix’s hack…
Fantasy grows among Netflix series with the premiere of ‘Lockwood Agency’, based on the novels by Jonathan Stroud. Now, literary success aside, season 2 of ‘Lockwood Agency’ is not assured: the platform has not yet renewed the seriesand the numbers from its opening weekend have not been strong enough to ensure that it will.
Yes, the series is in danger, and here we will keep you up to date with all the news that Netflix offers: will the series be renewed for a second season? Will it have a release date in 2024? How will the story continue?
Starring Ruby Stokes (ex ‘The Bridgertons’), ‘Lockwood Agency’ places us in a dystopian London marked by a mysterious historical event known as The Trouble: since then, ghosts have invaded the city’s nights and are extremely dangerous . Private ghost hunting agencies have been created to contain them, and among them is the recent and very youthful Lockwood & Co (or Lockwood Agency), led by the talented Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman).
along with a nerd archival research expert George (Ali Hadji-Heshmati) and a new member gifted with mind-blowing psychic power, this small agency struggles to make a name for itself in business without adult supervision and without a single pound to his name.
After the end of the first season of ‘Lockwood Agency’, we await answers. Will we get them?
‘Lockwood Agency’: will there be season 2 on Netflix?
Season 2 of ‘Lockwood Agency’ has not been confirmed by Netflixand therefore there is no release date available.
The series hangs by a thread after a not very resounding premiere, but it is clear that the story can continue in many ways. What kind of secret organization is behind the most tense moments we have experienced in the first season? Can Lucy really talk to Type 3 ghosts, and what will that mean in her future? And, more pressing, what is behind that mysterious door that Anthony Lockwood has kept tightly closed for eight episodes and now opens in the last shot of the season? There are many unknowns ahead of ‘The Lockwood Agency’, but we will have to wait and see if the streaming platform will give creator Joe Cornish and his team a chance to move forward.
Perhaps the viewing numbers on Netflix have not been impressive (nor has the time that the platform has dedicated to its promotion or visibility in front of the public, but that is another matter), but Press critics have applauded the series, calling it a “sheer delight”, “an addictive and sophisticated supernatural thriller” and a “British charm” adventure for all ages. Will Netflix listen to criticism more than numbers?
