‘Berlin’: Synopsis
The plot of ‘Berlin’ will place us before the events of ‘La casa de papel’when the title character still had nothing to lose and was enjoying various romances while pulling off different heists with his own gang.
“There will be robberies that, this time, are closer to illusionismwith a component of sleight of hand, Berlin is the David Copperfield of robberies”, explains Álex Pina, creator of the series together with Esther Martínez Lobato. “We came from doing very dark projects and we wanted to do something brighter”.
“We had worked with a hostile narrative and Let’s turn to a more comical one, with a playful spirit and a romantic comedy“, emphasizes Martínez Lobato. “We try to make it as beautiful as possible.”
“We thought that our job when it came to entertaining was to present brighter characters with whom to have a good time,” concludes Pina. “We opted to continue working with robberies but adding romanticism and comedy.we really wanted to return to pure comedy, with the intention of making each episode laugh.”
The eight episodes of the series are written by David Oliva, David Barrocal, Esther Martínez Lobato and Álex Pina and will be directed by Albert Pintó, David Barrocal and Geoffrey Cowper.

“I’m not dead,” he laughs Pedro Alonso, in charge of putting himself behind the skin of Berlin again. “The character is a theme park. He survives death, limbo, hell, the dark side and the light side. We came from a hostile world and now the pendulum swings the other way. It’s lighter, more comfortable. It reminds me of these films of great actors who work on style and adventure, it is bigger than life. Not even with all of the above I am clear about what I am going to find”.
Michelle Jenner will be Keyla: “She is a computer engineer, an expert in cybersecurity and very cerebral, although not very expert in the emotional part”, describes the actress. “I want to give the best of me and enjoy. We have nerves but the good ones”.
Begoña Vargas will be Cameron: “She is a woman with incredible power, a roller coaster, she has come to the band to have a good time”, says Vargas. “We don’t know each other very well among the cast members but we already get along well. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
Tristán Ulloa will be Damián: “He has been a great friend of Berlin for many years, his Jiminy Cricket, and he has a more classical vision of love, he is the backbone of their friendship”, he describes. “There are sixty versions of the first script, I had never seen that before. I would like to correspond to that installment with our good work.”
Julio Peña will be Roy: “He is the squire of Berlin, he has full confidence in him because he got him out of a not so good past,” he explains. “This role is a gift, an experience that I really want to live, an adventure that I want to enjoy.”
Joel Sanchez is Bruce: “He is brainless, he lives in the present, he is very dynamic”, comments the actor.
