Sound the alarm! In its quest to “Try It All,” The House of Mouse is poised to take viewers not exactly into “Into the Unknown,” but into the known. Yesterday we saw Disney’s quarterly earnings call (who doesn’t love one?) which resulted in the unveiling of a series of sequels to the animated favorites: Frozen, toy storyAND zootropolis (OR zootopiawhatever title applies to that side of the pond) will follow in the near future.
Discussed by CEO Bob Iger as an example of how The Walt Disney Company is “leaning towards [its] unprecedented brands,” the news could be interpreted as a direct response to the relative disappointments of last year’s meta. toy story divided Light year and the most misunderstood Strange world. with since then zootropolis, frozen IIAND toy story 4 all broke the billion dollar barrier at the box office, sequels to all three are definitely bets to become a fan favorite and see bums in theater seats again, plus, frozen 3 will go down in studio history by creating the first official trilogy in the Walt Disney Animation Studios catalog. The news also represented something of a silver lining in a tough call for Iger, in which the Disney boss announced the layoff of 7,000 employees and the loss of 2.4 million Disney+ subscribers in the first quarter of 2023.
At this point, there are no details on release dates, creative teams, or confirmed titles for any of the sequels announced in the announcement. But in the meantime, before Disney gets us all back on the sequel track, we still have the original Pixar effort. Elementary and Walt Disney Animation’s 100th Anniversary Celebration Show Desire to strive. We are sure that others will be there. zootropolis–lazy style: fast as a flaaaaassssshhhhhhh.
