Disney’s remake of Splash moves forward with new writer Sarah Rothschild

It was a simple – note checks – Six and a half years ago, we brought you the news of a Sketches remake in the works of Brian Grazer (yes, uncle of Shazam: Fury of the Gods with Jack Dylan Grazer). At the time, Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell were set to play a flipped version of Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah’s classic rom-com roles. Now, having apparently been dead in the water (ba-dum-tsh!) for some time now, that seems to be the case Sketches finally gets its new version.

Second ExpirationSarah Rothschild, the screenwriter of the Netflix offer the pajama partyis set to write the final draft of the mermaid novel screenplay, with inherent vice AND Roar star Bell is always ready to play. It’s unclear if Grazer is still attached to produce, or if Tatum is still on board to play Daryl Hannah’s gender-swapped version of Fish Lady from the original, but with a screenwriter now attached, we’re optimistic the project could stay afloat. .

We have no further confirmation on plot details beyond what we initially learned in 2016. the shape of water with more fun or any sort of release schedule, but it’s good to know that this promising reimagining of the Ron Howard classic has yet to sink.
