Milton Nascimento took to social media to mourn his friend’s death Shorter WayneAmerican saxophonist and composer who passed away this Thursday 2 at the age of 89.
“Today is one of the most difficult days of my life. The day to say goodbye to a part of all that I am”, Bituca began in his text. “Shorter Wayne he was – and always will be – more than a musical partner. Since we met, we’ve never been apart,” she continued.
Wayne Shorter was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital. Active for over six decades, he has been in groups such as Jazz Messengers by Art Blakeythe second great quintet of Miles Davis and the transformer weather report. Each of them explores jazz through different eras and paths.
Collaboration with Milton began in 1975. “He invited me to record the native dancerand changed my life and career forever,” the singer-songwriter wrote in his post.
“Last year, when I performed in Los Angeles, he couldn’t come to see me, because he had a domestic accident the night before, but I managed to go to his house, and we had a beautiful afternoon, worthy of our many years of brotherhood and history. My condolences to his wife, Carolina, who has fought so hard for the health of my eternal brother in these years. To my beloved friend, my greatest and eternal love,” concluded the publication.
