Shakira cites Depeche Mode as influence on record-breaking song about cheating

Made in partnership with Argentine producer and DJ Bizarrap, “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” secured 14 entries for the singer in the Guinness World Records

Shakira has always been a hurricane as an artist and music “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”released in collaboration with the Argentine producer bizarre, is perhaps the best example of this. Compound to counter the betrayals of her ex-husband, the football player Gerard Piquethe single has already recorded 420 million plays on YouTube and another 417 million on Spotify, in addition to having broken several records.

Incredible as it may seem, such a contemporary song is influenced by a classic band from the 1980s and 1990s, the Depeche Mode. In an interview with the TV program The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallonthe Colombian singer said that the beats created by bizarre sound like the best moments of the Depeche Mode.

At the time, she explained that the Argentine DJ had two different beats, so it was necessary to make a choice. The artist really liked the one that ended up becoming the official one due to its more “obscure” feel, in her opinion.

It reminded me of Depeche Mode. If you listen to the song (‘Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’) it has a little bit of that dark, cold tone. I love Depeche Mode. They are my favorites.”

Right away, Shakira highlighted how she usually reacts to the music she listens to – and how you can tell if she liked what she just heard or not.

“I generally have a more physical and visceral reaction to music. If you see me doing two-step dances, it’s because things aren’t right. I know when a song works because I suddenly start moving. This usually results in my hips moving.”
