Queen: Brian May is knighted by King Charles III

Queen guitarist Brian May was given the title “Sir”

Brian May was officially knighted in the British Crown. As announced in the list of King Charles IIIreleased in January 2023, the guitarist from Queen was one of those chosen to receive the honor for his contributions to music, charity and activism for animals.

The ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace last Tuesday, the 14th. may may go by the title of “Sir.” On Instagram, the musician published photos of the ceremony and wrote a succinct caption: “Speechless! Bri.”

In an interview with BBC (via NME), Brian commented on the honor: “This is kind of a license, a kind of instruction to keep doing what I do, a little admiration for my work. I’m very happy about it.”

Mick Jager, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John are other musicians who have also received the title of knight.

In addition to Brian Mayanother 1,000 people are on the British king’s list – the first since he took the throne after the death of Elizabeth II. The names were published in The Gazettethe official newspaper of the royal family, at the beginning of the year.
