Headliner of Lollapalooza Brasil this Sunday, the 26th, Drake debuted in the country in 2019 — and left a trail of controversies behind
Full of great artists, the third and last day of the 10th edition of the Lollapalooza Brazil takes place this Sunday, the 26th. Marked by several cancellations, the festival had one more precisely on the morning of the last day of the event: Drake canceled the presentation, which would take place on the Budweiser Stage, due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
The canceled show was due to start around 9pm, and it wouldn’t be the first of drake in Latin America in 2023. Headliner do Argentine Lollapaloozathe singer was the talk of the country, mainly because of the controversies during the show.
It turns out that, at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, in Buenos Aires, the singer played a much shorter show than expected – instead of 1h30 of the rapper’s hits, fans received only 45 minutes. And, in addition to not allowing live transmission of the presentation, drake also toned down the lyrics of his tracks, singing several of them in half.
Far beyond the controversies in Argentine Lollapaloozahowever, drake also generated several discussions in Brazil, in 2019, when he headlined a festival in Rio de Janeiro — which has triggered a wave of insecurities in his fans this year. But, after all, what were all these scandals?
turn your face
The controversies started right at the airport in Rio de Janeiro, where fans crowded to try to find the rapper. Shortly after disembarking from his plane, the AirDrake, the singer didn’t stop to greet fans and went straight to his car without looking back.
Restricted diet?
Stayed in a luxury hotel in Copacabana, drake I didn’t want to taste typical Brazilian food. That’s because, along with his team, the rapper brought a private cook and imported everything he consumed – and even tipped the employees who served him in the hotel restaurant, where the singer left without eating.
No one will see!
To the surprise of those who could not attend the festival in Rio de Janeiro in 2019, drake banned the broadcast of his show at the event. At the time, he claimed that the decision would have been made because of the unstable weather. cuteGlobo TV director, however, denied the rapper:
Is not true! You stepped on the ball for absolute lack of respect for the Brazilian public. Long before the rain, had already released the show. He sent his light designer away, causing a general tantrum. I just didn’t want to release it. Too bad for your Brazilian fans.

Turn off the light
Shortly before the show started, drake decided to fire their lighting and audio engineer, after becoming frustrated with the stage’s lighting and sound. Without a professional who understood the subject, the presentation was poorly lit and, at various times, drake barely appeared on the big screen — which infuriated many of the fans who watched it live.
samples only
Just as it happened in Argentine Lollapalooza this year, drake also shortened his performance in Rio in 2019. In his debut in Brazil, the singer reduced the lyrics of his tracks — and, despite criticism from fans, according to The globethe singer came down from the stage stating that it would have been the best show of his life.
concentrated fun
Some time before your presentation begins, drake made a demand to the festival: that the iconic zip line of the Rio festival be disabled during his show. Even frustrating many of the people present at the festival, the rapper did not explain his curious request.
