Rita Lee’s album ‘Flerte Fatal’ with hits like ‘Pega Rapaz’ and ‘Bwana’ gets vinyl edition; Listen


The album released by the singer in 1987 and which sold 500,000 copies comes out in orange

In the second half of the 80s, Rita Lee I was already past that magical phase where artists manage to make great albums – and score several hits – one after another. However, Rita has always had a lot of cards up her sleeve. One such resource is the disk fatal flirt which Universal Music has just re-released on orange vinyl (R$169.90).

The album was recorded under the production of Robert de Carvalho, Rita’s life and career partner. The work marked the rocker’s transition from the Som Livre stage – the label on which she produced an unbeatable trilogy between 1979 and 1981 – to EMI Music.

fatal flirt it was hauled essentially by two rails. One of them is catch boy, pop signed by Rita and Roberto with confessional verses on the relationship between the two. The song, according to the lyrics distributed to the press on the vinyl release, “leaked” in a pre-internet age. The pirated copy, still unfinished, began playing on the radio without the record company.

With success, catch boy was chosen to enter the soundtrack of the telenovela Cheesy & Chichit on TV Globo in 1987. The song was the theme of the character Baltazar, played by Dennis Carvalho.

The other track that stood out was bwana, also by Rita and Roberto. Both contributed to the album selling 500,000 copies.

Inspired by presenter Xuxa, wrote Rita Xuxuzinho, about a woman looking for a boyfriend. The lyrics played with famous couples, including Maria Bonita and Lampião, Dalila and Samsão, Tarzan and Jane, and even Cosme and Damião.

Rita even recorded rock I refusemusic that he had given to the singer Gal Costa (1945-2022) release on his record Faces and mouthsfrom 1977. Among other songs, problem musicianautographed by the couple, and a version written by Rita for the song blue Moona ballad best known for recording by The Marcels in the early 1960s.

Rita, who is recovering from lung cancer and preparing to release her second biography, has been away from the stage since 2012. In 2021, she released her first new song in a decade, called Edit.
