Chris Cornell’s widow and Soundgarden make a deal to release the musician’s unreleased songs


The end of the four-year litigation will allow for the release of seven recordings left by Cornell

AP – The singer’s widow Chris Cornell and his former bandmates sound garden said on Monday it had settled a four-year legal dispute, paving the way for the launch of the unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell more than five years after his death.

Vicky Cornell processed the sound garden in federal court in 2019 for royalties from recordings her husband made, which she said were intended for a solo project, but the band claimed was part of her collaboration with him.

“Soundgarden and Vicky Cornell, on behalf of the estate of Chris Cornellare happy to announce that they have reached an amicable settlement out of court,” the two parties said in a statement. “The reconciliation marks a new partnership between the two parties, which will allow fans of the sound garden around the world to hear the final songs the band and Chris were working on.”

No details of the settlement have been released, and no court documents stating that a settlement had been reached have been filed with the court.

Chris Cornell created the seven registrations defendant in the lawsuit at his Miami Beach home studio months before his death in May 2017, after a Soundgarden concert in Detroit, according to data in the lawsuit, the band’s guitarist was also among the defendants Kim Thayilthe drummer Matthew Cameron and the bass player well pastor.

He claimed the band was denying Vicky Cornell and the couple’s two children hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties. In 2021, Cornell’s family filed a different lawsuit against a doctor who they say overprescribed medication prior to her death, which was ruled a suicide.

OR sound garden was founded in 1984 and projected itself during the rise of the music scene Seattle grunge in the late 80’s and early 90’s. His most famous songs include Black hole sun, Jesus Christ pose, eclipsed AND Table spoon. Cornell was also in the bands Audioslave and Temple of the Dog.

“The two sides are united and coming together to advance, honor and build on the incredible legacy of the sound gardensaid Monday’s statement, “as well as Chris’s indelible mark on music history as one of the greatest songwriters and singers of all time.”
