In 2023, Sabotage would be 50 years old; family prepares special project with unpublished album, book, film and much more
In the project announcement Sabotage 50 yearsfamily of the legendary Brazilian rapper, who died on January 24, 2003, revealed how it will release a film, book, short films, unpublished album (in partnership with the record label Free sound), immersive exhibition, series of short films, clothing lines, accessories and stationery items.
During an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil, Tamires Rochadaughter of sabotage, commented on his importance to rap and how he was different. Asked why the singer is still relevant today, with such current lyrics, she replied:
“That was surprising, he had a surreal mind. His songs are really up to date. If I listen now, he’ll talk to me in a song, he’ll give me some advice, he’ll tell me things I heard yesterday and things I’ll see tomorrow,” he said.
“When you truly sing your reality, it doesn’t matter when it was written, your truth will always be sung and that’s what he did: he sang reality, what he and people lived,” he continued. Tamires. “My father was a composer who sang my reality, told someone’s story, like his mother, his father, the victory in life. We identify, so it’s very current.”
It’s like some artists who sing say: Sabotage was a prophet. He had a vision of what was already happening and he knew things that would happen.
Furthermore, the daughter of sabotage recalled how all of her quality in music came from his attitudes on a daily basis, listening to different genres, as well as contact with other rhythms and cultures. “He was very versatile. I grew up with my father listening to music that today I’m like, ‘Wow, he used to listen to that!’ A lot people are surprised. He heard everything,” she said.
