The success of the group will be the basis of a plot that promises to celebrate 40 years of hip hop in Brazil and enhance urban art
The Vai-Vai samba school, from São Paulo, announced on social networks the theme of the next plot, which will concern the urban culture of the capital of São Paulo. For the 2024 Carnival parade, the inspiration will be the song “Capítulo 4, Versículo 3”, from the album “Sobrevivendo no Inferno” (1997), by the group Racionais MC’s.
The association’s idea is to celebrate 40 years of hip hop in Brazil, “exalting urban art through its aspects – DJs, MCs, breaks and graffiti”. The title of the plot will be “Chapter 4, Verse 3 – From the Street and the People, Hip Hop: A Paulistano Manifesto”.
“The proposal is to bring the cultural events that have always been on the margins, hidden in the suburbs, to the center of the city scene. Using the popular language of MCs and DJs, through rap, the plot claims the occupation of spaces, as well as the full recognition of artistic and cultural expressions considered peripheral,” states the publication on Instagram.
This year, the school was the winner of Access Group 1. In 2024, Vai-Vai opens the second night of the Special Group, at the Anhembi Sambadrome on 10 February. And the parade was developed by carnival designer Sidnei França.
