Zeca Baleiro show in Alagoas was interrupted by discussion about the Rouanet Law
Zeca Baleiro had to interrupt his show in Alagoas last Saturday, the 6th, after a man in the audience shouted about the Rouanet Law. The singer performed at FliPenedo (Literary Festival of Penedo).
While Baleiro stressed the importance of taking a political stand in the artistic milieu, part of the public expressed support for the current president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. An upset man asked: “What about the Rouanet Law?”. The musician countered with another question: “Do you know what the Rouanet Law is?”, according to the G1.
Zeca came down from the stage and went to him with the microphone, asking him to explain what the law was. After the man’s refusal, the musician stated that he could leave the show if he wanted: “You don’t know shit, man. Shut your mouth there. You don’t know what to say, you don’t speak. You have a relative who was benefited by the law , because this generates work for a huge chain of workers. This is your ignorance. Don’t go around saying that. You can withdraw from my show, if you want.”
A Federal Law of Incentive to Culture, known as the Rouanet Law, was created in 1991 and serves to boost the cultural sector through support from the private sector. By investing in production companies or artists, companies have the opportunity to pay a lower amount in income tax.
