O King Charles III is a fan of Rita Lee. Roberto de Carvalho, husband of the singer, recalled the fact during the coronation of the monarch last weekend. He published, in his Instagram stories, an excerpt from an article by Daily Mirror from 1988.
The text reveals the admiration of Charles per Rita Lee. The then prince had the singer as his favorite artist at the time and, in Paris, he asked if there was any record of hers that he could listen to. Charles started singing the tracks by heart after Reginadescribed as “queen of nightclubs” put the artist’s most recent album to play.
Also according to the publication (via metropolises), “Perfume Launcher” was her favorite song from Rita Lee.
Rita Lee, queen and patroness of Brazilian rock, died on the night of this Monday, the 8th, at the age of 75. The singer was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2021 and went into remission of the disease in April of this year. In February, she was again admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital for monitoring tests and the side effects of the treatment.
According to the family note, Rita died “surrounded by all the love of her family, as she always wanted.”
The wake will be open to the public and will take place at Planetarium at Ibirapuera Park, this Wednesday, 10, between 10am and 5pm. Following the singer’s wish, the body will be cremated, with a private ceremony for family and friends.
