David Ellefsonformer member of megadethcalled the former bandmate’s attitude, Dave Mustaine, for “pathetic.” For the bassist, the constant complaints about the dismissal of metallica they don’t make sense.
Mustaine was guitarist of metallica until 1983, when he was fired from the band for his alcohol problems and disagreements with James Hetfield It is Lars Ulrich. In the same year, he founded the megadeth beside Ellefson.
The bassist stayed in the band until 2002. He returned in 2010 and remained until 2021, when accusations of contact with a minor on the internet emerged. Ellefson denied any wrongdoing and said the sexually-oriented messages were exchanged between two adults.
In an interview with the channel Heavy Talk (via NME), the musician compared his dismissal with that of Mustaine: “I got a call: ‘You’re fired.’ And I said, ‘What the fuck, man? Some shitty people dropped a bomb on my house and that’s it? It’s not even true. It’s bullshit. Is that how you treat me?’ There was no negotiation.”
David stated that there was pressure from other people around Mustaine for his resignation and that “there is no choice but to forgive in order to move forward.” He continued: “I watched as Mustaine dealt with his resignation in metallica, complaining about it after 40 years. I think it’s pathetic as fuck.”
“That’s how I chose to deal with it: ‘Make up your mind and move on.’ That’s why I’ve released four records since the megadeth released the latest album, and I think each one is as good as or better than the last one in the megadeth,” he added.
