Roger Waters criticized for mentioning Anne Frank at concert in Germany

Reference by Roger Waters to Anne Frank in a presentation in Berlin sparked discussion on social media

roger waters is receiving criticism on social networks after a concert in Berlin, Germany, held on May 17, as reported by NME.

The presentations generated confusion even before they took place, with threats of cancellation by the German government. The reason would be the bassist’s political position in relation to Israel. The decision, however, was revoked, and waters could go on with the dates of the farewell tour This Is Not a Drill.

During the shows, controversy arose when the names of Anne Frank (known for her diary, in which she recorded the violence of the Nazi regime while she was a child) and Shireen Abu Akleh (journalist killed by the Israeli army) were shown on the big screen.

While some people claimed the moment was a ‘disrespect’ to the memory of Annefans and other users of social networks highlighted that it was an anti-fascist demonstration by the former member of pink Floyd.
