The big news of this year’s Virada Cultural was the presence of the gospel singer Leidy Murilho. In a pop style of black music, she stood out at cultural events in São Paulo, bringing a different sound, happy and full of good energy.
Leidy has been singing since childhood. Her daughter of pastors, she has always been involved in church events, music festivals such as reality show “Idols”and once was on a major record label, Sony music.
In 2021, Leidy recorded a song with the singer rodriguinhowhich led to a participation with him at the “It’s Home”TO Globe. Recently, he recorded a project at Hard Rock Curitiba, where he brought his art to him with a modern and very danceable repertoire.
Leidy will also participate in Black and Caribbean Women’s Day, in another cultural event in São Paulo. The artist aims to empower women with songs like ‘Menina’. At the same time, you speak in “Força pra face” about racism, topics that are rarely discussed within the church.
“I like attending women’s events where I can tell my story. I like being able to strengthen my art as a woman in the gospel segment, through black pop music. I like to show good quality music, so that people understand that I praise God is also happy, dancing I want to help women free themselves from abusive marriages, because within the church it is little talked about, and to represent in society the strength of the Christian woman and I as a “single and black” mother’, which is still very challenging!”, comments Leidy Murilho.
