Noel Gallagher has returned to criticize The 1975 after questions from Matty Healy about the return of Oasis in February this year
Noel Gallagher and the band The 1975stick together since the lead singer of the group, Matty Healycommented on the speculations of a possible meeting of the Oasis in February of this year, asking the brothers Gallagher mature.
In a new interview, Noel Gallagher shared his thoughts on the state of modern rock – and made sure to share his thoughts on the The 1975.
In the last part of the series In Conversationfrom the NME, Gallagher pointed out that the Oasis had a lot of influence on the current crop of musicians, and that guitar music had become “marginalized”. He also contested the idea of The 1975 be a rock band.
The influence of OasisI think, was for people to start a band in the first place. […] Either you have to be rock, or that damn [The] 1975. At the BRITs, The 1975 won Best Rock or some shit like that.
“I was watching it with my kids, two teenage boys, thinking, ‘Am I being a grumpy old man or is this shit?’ They were both saying, ‘Oh no, this sucks’. The 1975, Best Rock Band? Someone needs to redefine this immediately, because this is… I don’t know what this is, but it sure isn’t fucking rock. Whatever rock is, this ain’t it.
