Gramado Summit is the son of Rock in Rio and Davos, says the CEO

Marcus Rossi, CEO of Gramado Summit, reflects on the potential and internationalization plans of the event

In 2023 the Prato Summit held the largest edition in its history, at least so far. There were three days of content and insights on innovation and business, with more than 10,000 people and 220 speakers distributed over seven stops. After the success of the last edition, the question that remains is: how to overcome the previous year, and what can we expect from the next editions?

“If Rock in Rio knew about (Forum in) Davos, Switzerland and they had a child, it would be the Prato Summit“, says Marcus Rossi, CEO and co-founder of the event, in the latest episode of mvpthe podcast of startupsavailable on all major platforms.

According to the executive, the goal of Prato Summit is to combine the best possible content with entertainment. “It’s an event that makes people come in a completely different way and people come out completely different. It’s not just a startup, it’s not just marketing or innovation for the public sector. It’s the combination of all of these,” he points out.

Similar to the company Rock in Riowhich has recently launched a new music festival in its portfolio of events (the The city), THE Prato Summit it has, for now, only a single event. Approximately 40% of all revenue comes from ticket sales and the remainder is generated through sponsorships, including exposure, branding and merchandising activation.

While he’s focused on expanding the brand into the mountains of Rio Grande do Sul, Marcus already says there are plans to expand into other regions. “I want to consolidate the Gramado brand. It will not be the São Paulo summit, but the Gramado summit in Sao Paulofor example,” he explains.

But it doesn’t have to be just in Brazil. If Portugal can host the Rock in Rio Lisbonwhy not also receive the Gramado Lisbon Summit? According to Marcus, this is a possible option. The executive reveals that he is in contact with leaders and managers of the Portuguese country, even if he does not set a date on when the international edition should take place. “When Portugal approached us, at the very beginning of the conversation, the idea was to unify Portuguese-speaking countries, such as Brazil, Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde and Portugal. It’s not a fact yet, but there is interest,” he underlines. The idea is to keep the Brazilian edition in the first semester and organize the international event in the second half of the year.

As differentials of Prato Summit, Marcus emphasizes the diversity of subjects. This year, the event addressed topics such as economy creation, emerging giants, social entrepreneurship, venture capital, digital marketing, artificial intelligence and Web 3.0. we do startups we participated in the event with Palco Startups, promoting three days of lectures and panels with entrepreneurs, investors and other personalities who talk about the current moment of the ecosystem. “I want to break the ecosystem bubble, go further. And speak with great pride that the Prato Summit it’s a national event,” says the CEO.
