Roger Waters’ performance since Pink Floyd’s days sparked controversy in Germany
the shows of roger waters in Germany continue to generate controversy. The former bassist of pink Floyd received criticism from the United States Department of State after allegedly “alluding to Nazism” during performances.
According to a report by Folha de S.Paulothe organization classified the show as waters as “deeply offensive to the Jewish people” and accused him of having an anti-Semitic background in an emailed note.
The musician is being investigated by the Berlin police for using costumes with alleged allusions to Nazi uniforms in a show in the city. The performance, however, is the same since the tour. The Wallstill with the pink Floyd.
“We are investigating suspicions of incitement to hatred, because the clothes worn on stage can praise or justify the National Socialist regime and disturb public order. The clothes resemble that of an SS officer,” martin hawegspokesman for the Berlin police, told the AFP.
In response, waters criticized the controversy surrounding the costume design. “My recent performance in Berlin attracted attacks in bad faith from those who want to slander and silence me because they disagree with my political views and moral principles,” she wrote.
The elements of my performance that have been called into question are clearly a statement in opposition to fascism, injustice and fanaticism in all their forms. Attempts to portray these elements as something different are underhanded and politically motivated. The depiction of an unhinged fascist demagogue has been a feature of my shows since The Wallof pink Floydin 1980.
