With music production by Douglas Moda and Nave, the song has a music video and creative direction by Felipe Sassi
It was after a dream that the singer-songwriter CAIO wrote the lyrics and also the melody of “Passageiro”, a single that lands on digital platforms now accompanied by the video clips directed by Filippo Sassi.
With the musical production of Douglas Moda and Nave, the song opens a new era in the artist’s career and is the title of his first solo studio album, which is scheduled for release in the second half of 2023.
“Passenger” is an invitation to celebrate the now, a narrative that reflects the chronology of human life and concludes that absolutely nothing remains under the relentless hand of time. It is the joy of living in the present that should keep us busier than the worries of the future or the regrets of the past.
“Passengeiro appeared the same day my paternal grandmother and my aunts, my father’s sisters, moved from their house there in Minas Gerais, due to flooding caused by heavy rains. On March 20, 2021”, comments CAIO. “The house where I was born, where I grew up, where my family has lived for over 50 years, has become history. I hadn’t visited them since the pandemic started, so when I returned to Contagem in December 2021 it was a new home. For all this, I always remember the exact date of birth of Passageiro. Something connected with this unconscious transient life, ”explains the artist about his composition.
“Being a “passenger” is our condition on the train of life. We are spectators of the landscapes that pass through the window ”, she reflects.
Kicking off the upcoming CAIO album, the single “Passageiro” opens this new era for the artist by evoking the journey of a mystical wanderer who faces the difficulties that arise and decides to move on.
First song produced in collaboration with Douglas and Nave, together they faced the challenge of achieving a sound that dialogues with the Brazilian musical productions of the 70s, drinking from the source of samba and the modernity of pop. “The key word was ‘nostalgia’. With that north, we experimented. We love the sunny and vibrant result of the track,” she says.
To highlight the narration of this wandering CAIO who flirts with the 70s, director Felipe Sassi combined live action and stopmotion and directed the video clip in allusion to the classic “The Wizard of Oz”, recorded in the splendid nature of Fazenda Mundo Novo 1, in Piquete, in the interior of São Paulo. In this narration, CAIO finds people distracted by time who, invited to dance the samba, remember to live in the present. Furthermore, Sassi proposes a journey of reconnection with our inner child and we accompany CAIO in the reconciliation with his mother, his father, his son and a nice maned wolf, the reunification of him with joy.
“Passageiro” was born as a very theatrical clip. I needed to prepare the body so that it directly referenced these symbols that we so wanted to wear. This universe of TV Cultura and the various arts that have permeated our artistic construction”, comments the creative director Felipe Sassi. “It’s a dreamlike story, but at the same time it flirts with that cinematic realism with a theatrical tone. We brought in a lot of references that we liked to really make a Brazilian Wizard of Oz,” he adds.
