Grammy bars songs made with artificial intelligence

The Academy has announced details of the next edition of the Grammys

No artificial intelligence in Grammy. The Academy, responsible for hosting the ceremony, announced eligibility requirements for the 2024 edition and made it clear that the songs must be made by humans.

“Only human creators are eligible to apply,” the policy reads, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter (via Omelet). Music can be aided by AI tools, but “the human authorial component must be meaningful and relevant to the category in which the work was entered.”

In addition to shedding light on the topic now that AI-generated tracks have spread across the internet, the Academy has changed the number of nominees in the four main categories: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year It is New artist. There will be eight competitors in place of the 10 spots available until the 2023 edition.

The main award, Album of the Year, also had its requirements changed. Previously, any artist who had collaborated on at least one track would also be considered nominated for the Grammy, if the disc competed. With the new rules, collaboration is required for at least 20% of the project.

The indications of Grammy 2024 will be announced in November.
