Ringo Starr on coming to Brazil with a supergroup: ‘There are always chances’

Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band are on tour, ready to bring fun and hits to audiences

the tour of Ringo Starr accompanied by His All-Starr Band – mutant supergroup formed in 1989 by the drummer of Beatles – passes through several North American states in 2023. Divided between spring and autumn in the northern hemisphere, the shows feature a star-studded lineup and musicians, who celebrate their own careers in front of fans.

In a press conference via video call, Ringo spoke about the excitement of presenting so many classics more “freely.” Colin Hay (Men at Work), Hamish Stuart (Average White Band), Edgar Winter, Gregg Bissonette (Electric Light Orchestra), Steve Lukather (toto) and Warren Ham form the current team of All Star Band and contribute to the setlist with tracks from other projects in which they participated or still participate.

Despite the collaborative environment, it is clear that hits from Beatles are not left out. “I Wanna Be Your Man,” “yellow submarine” It is “With a Little Help From My Friends” – played at the end of the presentations – are some of the references to Fab Four.

Age does not seem to be an obstacle for the group. Ringo, aged 82, leads the band on the tour that will have at least 19 more shows and has not ruled out adding dates in other continents. When asked by Rolling Stone Brazil if there are plans to include South America in the route, Starr stated: “There’s always a chance we’ll come back. For this year, the shows are all booked.”

The drummer completed highlighting good experiences around here:

I love South America. We had a lot of fun last time. Everyone in the audience was ready to have a good time, because that’s what we do. We do something we love, so it brings us joy. But I can’t say, ‘See you on Thursday’ [Risos].
