For Tomorrowland Brasil 2023, BADSISTA wants to ‘include a lot of music from ghetto talent so they get the visibility they deserve!’
One of the most interesting attractions in the Tomorrowland Brasil 2023, Rafaela Andradebetter known as the DJ and music producer BADSISThas an art loaded with important speeches on political and social issues – and promises a diverse presentation for the electronic music festival, one of the largest in the world.
In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil, BADSIST spoke about the preparations and expectations for the long-awaited show at tomorrowlandwhich takes place between the 12th and 14th of October, at Maeda Parkin Itu.
“I hope to have a lot of fun! And I also hope to show all the diversity, strength and talent that we have in Brazilian electronic music and in the ghetto. Music and dance are what unite us, and I know that we will be a great single body in ecstasy, enjoying this great journey together,” he said.
In addition, the artist also spoke about the evolution of her career and all the important milestones she has reached in recent years: “It seems that I have taken the right steps from the beginning. The rewards of the last few years of hard work have been very rewarding, and I know that Tomorrowland will be another gift.”
My music has always broken barriers and taken me to wonderful places as we can see. It will be an honor to show my music to the audience of the biggest electronic music festival in Brazil and the world.

It is worth remembering how, in Primavera Sound Sao Paulo 2022, BADSIST was featured in several headlines (and on the internet) for putting a meme of Bolsonarista holding a truck on the screen of her show at the festival. For her, it is extremely important to carry out manifestations of this type.
“For me, being who I am and coming from where I come from without sponsors says a lot. I also know I have a lot of eyes on me, so I don’t like to pretend to be something I’m not,” he explained. “I know the importance I carry as an artist, so I also try to make those eyes see things that also matter.”
I stopped trying to defend this only in speech, but also through attitudes. Mainly within my music and performance experience.
In another moment, BADSIST he said if he intends to do something political at Tomorrowland Brasil 2023: “I hope to include a lot of music from ghetto talent so that they have the visibility they deserve!” Read the full interview below:

What is your opinion about holding Tomorrowland in Brazil and being part of one of the biggest electronic music events in the world?
Looks like I’ve been taking the right steps from the start. The rewards of the last few years of hard work have been so rewarding, and I know Tomorrowland will be another gift. My music has always broken barriers and taken me to wonderful places as we can see. It will be an honor to show my music to the audience of the biggest electronic music festival in Brazil and the world.
What are your expectations for the show? What can fans expect?
Hope to have a lot of fun! And I also hope to show all the diversity, strength and talent that we have in Brazilian electronic music and in the ghetto. Music and dance are what unite us, and I know that we will be one big body in ecstasy, enjoying this great journey together.
What are your rituals or practices before going on stage?
Before I go onstage, I like to look around the dance floor, see people dancing, get the vibe that’s going on, and then concentrate for a few minutes before I go on. I avoid a lot of distractions because I like to be 100% in my performance, for the music and for my audience.
His performance at Primavera Sound had a significant impact with a political display on the screens. For you, what is the importance of approaching these subjects in your shows and songs?
For me, being who I am and coming from where I come from without sponsors says a lot. I also know that I have a lot of eyes on me, so I don’t like pretending to be something I’m not. I know the importance I carry as an artist, so I also try to make those eyes see things that also matter. I stopped trying to defend this only in speech, but also through attitudes. Mainly within my music and performance experience.
Do you plan to incorporate political elements into your Tomorrowland Brasil performance?
I hope to include lots of music from ghetto talent so they get the visibility they deserve!

You are known for your unique mix of music genres. Can you tell us a little about the music selection process? Can we expect a music release on TML?
I mix a lot of rhythms, yes, but there’s only one thing that unites them all in one place: the bass. I like songs that put you in a trance through the bass and rhythm. They may or may not have melodies, but they will definitely wash your body on the dance floor with lots of bass and a touch of sensual vibes. About news in Tomorrowland, nothing to comment yet!
In addition to your music, you are also recognized as a visual artist. Can we expect special visual collaborations or artistic performances during your performance at Tomorrowland Brasil?
I love working collaboratively with other artists. I only found my way when I felt free to create, so I also enjoy collaborating with artists who live freedom and aren’t afraid to innovate. So I’m definitely going to have visuals in TML because I’m a huge nerd and I love technology and I like to provide a complete experience.
What can we expect from the future of BADSISTA?
BADSISTA is taking on many faces, but one thing is clear: more interesting music. There’s a new EP coming out on the Colombian label TraTraTrax, I’m also starting to produce my second studio album, so I’m 100% ready to dive in like crazy and do some cool collaborations, I really love the connections music can create. But, yes, I am feeling more mature and prepared for what the world can offer me.
