Rapper Kendrick Lamar has been announced as one of the main attractions of GPWeek, a festival that takes place in São Paulo on November 4 and 5 at the Allianz Parque. The rapper will headline the second day of the event, which also features singer Thundercat and electronic pop duo Sofi Tukker. The first day of the festival will feature singers Halsey, Machine Gun Kelly, JXDN and Swedish trio Swedish House Mafia.
The sale of tickets for the 5th will start this Wednesday (28/6), from 12:00 on the Eventim website with additional costs. At the official box office, sales start at 13:00 at gate A of Allianz Parque, with no additional service charge. Prices range from R$195 on the top seat to R$1,900 in front of the stage, with full-price and half-price options.
“GPWeek is committed to celebrating diverse cultural and musical happenings, so a second day looks like a new chance to bring more genres and artists to the country. And we started this event expansion very effectively, by having artists line-up. up who are among the most controversial names in the global market,” said Pepeu Correa, CEO of 30e, the company responsible for organizing the festival, in a press release.
The line-up for the first day of the festival was announced in early May and tickets are still available in all areas. It is worth mentioning that the event takes place on the same weekend as another major event in the city of Sao Paulo: the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Brazil, held at the Interlagos Circuit, hence the name GP Week.
Alternative music festival
The event marks the second iteration of the festival, which was first held in November 2022. With all tickets sold out, the festival debuted a line-up featuring The Killers, Hot Chip, Fresno, The Band Camino and duo Twenty One The Pilots, who also performed at this year’s Lollapalooza. The debut edition was marked by alternative rock and emo bands.
This year’s edition further diversifies its line-up, which has also become more commercial, while activating one of the biggest names in rap today. Winner of 12 Grammy Awards, Kendrick Lamar is acclaimed for his complex lyrics and driving rhythms.
The lineup adds Machine Gun Kelly and JXDN as representatives of the pop punk/emo style, along with Halsey. Though the singer is well known for her pop songs, she has turned to alternative emo in her most recent album, ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’ (2021). The variety continues with the duo Sofi Tukker and the group Swedish House Mafia, with the electronic genre, while the singer Thundercat combines elements of jazz and hip-hop.
