After all, will Richie Sambora return to Bon Jovi or not?

Three months after saying there were talks about returning, guitarist absent since 2013 gives a very different statement on the subject

Richie Sambora is the greatest enthusiast of his own return to Bon Jovi. And perhaps he has even gone overboard in this regard, as his string of recent statements on the subject seems to prove.

In a March interview with Absolute Radiothe guitarist, who has been out of the band since 2013, said he was in contact with the vocalist Jon Bon Jovi there is some time to discuss a meeting. At the time, he declared:

“We are talking about it. I don’t think there’s any reason not to do that at this point. […] We have to do this for the fans, really. I feel a real obligation.”

Three months later, the discourse has changed. On June 15th, Sambora participated in the 52nd edition of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, an event held in New York, in the United States. Given the tone of the recent speech, it was only natural that he would be asked about the Bon Jovi reunion.

Said and done: the guitarist was approached by United Stations Radio Networks to talk about it. The answer (via Igor Miranda website) left everyone confused.

“We are nowhere near that. No one has called me yet. But if they invite me, I can go tomorrow.”

Return already suggested

In different ways, Richie Sambora has already indicated the possibility of returning to Bon Jovi during other occasions. In November 2022, when talking to the tabloid Subwaythe guitarist was a little more succinct when he said that a presentation of him with the band at the festival of Glastonburyset to take place in June 2023 in the UK.

Interestingly, the group was not announced at the event, which confirmed Arctic monkeys, Armas e Rosas, Elton John It is lizzo among its main attractions.

Why Richie Sambora Left Bon Jovi

In a 2018 interview with Rolling Stone USA, Richie Sambora spoke openly about the reasons that made him leave Bon Jovi. Personal and professional issues interfered in the decision. The main one was related to the fatigue of doing long tours, which lasted more than a year. This kept him away from his family.

“You get home: things have changed. Divorce, birth, death. Ups and downs of normal life. Small tragedies. Love, joy. You lose all these things over and over again. Like I said, we weren’t a band that took a lot of time off. My daughter (Ava) needed me at that time, my father was dying of cancer, I was in the middle of a divorce and my shoulder had been busted.”

With regard to the professional part, Sambora said he wanted to have more protagonism in the vocals – and he would only achieve that outside the band that bears the singer’s last name.

“I needed to do something different and, frankly, I wanted to sing! I wanted to be a lead singer. In many bands I was in before, I was the lead singer and I missed that.”
