Lorde wants to write songs that are ‘nothing but great pop songs’

Singer says she moved away from big, upbeat pop hits for Solar Power, but that style is getting closer again

Lord thanked fans for their support with Solar Power, the singer’s third studio album released on August 20, 2021, and revealed how she’s “getting closer” to writing nothing but “big pop songs” again. It’s worth remembering how the album deviated a lot from its predecessor, Melodrama (2017), with something more introspective and delicate.

The lady of “Green Light” spoke about this subject on the third and final night of performances at London’s Roundhouse last Friday the 3rd. “It’s so interesting to me how writing a big, upbeat pop song was responsible for defining my life,” said the artist in day.

“This thing I started trying to do when I was 14 because I turned on the radio and I loved that feeling, what it did to me,” he continued.
