The 38-year-old star opened up about it in an interview with Daily star (via NME). “I never forget the abyss, those moments when nothing worked, when I was seriously considering giving up. There was really a feeling of failure.”
I had no choice but to continue because I don’t know how to do anything else. Courage would disappear,” Del Rey said.
Lana added that she ended up taking the easy way out by continuing to make music since there was no back-up plan other than her singing career. She also took advantage of the interview to talk about women in pop music and give praise Billie Eilish for being a “good person” and a “divinely gifted” artist.
“In pop music, women finally have the right to express themselves, their experiences. What I was doing in the beginning — they would have been crucified for doing it before. But I’m very specific. And that’s the key to universality” . , she said.
I don’t care if I play the wrong part, [não] fulfills what is expected of a pop singer. What I want is to be faithful to the exact moment the music reaches me.”
