Man is beaten at Sepultura show after Nazi salute; the band is pronounced


The individual even made racial slurs against the lead singer of the group during the Metal Weeknd festival in Fortaleza, Ceará

A man was beaten during a concert by the band Serious after apologizing for Nazism and uttering racial slurs. The presentation took place on 8 July and the group gave its opinion on the matter on Tuesday 18.

The situation occurred during the festival Metal weekendin Fortaleza. An individual, unidentified, racially abused the lead singer of the group, the American Derrick Green, who is black.

Then he made Nazi gestures and was expelled. On social networks, members of Sepultura claimed that the show went smoothly and that everyone learned about the case only the next day.

“Sepultura are categorically against any kind of demonstration like this and will not condone such behavior in their shows, nor condone any kind of violence or self-made justice,” the band said in a statement.

“It is worth remembering that the apology of Nazism and racist attacks are crimes established by law in Brazil, they must be denounced and punished according to the laws in force”, the group reiterated.

O Estadão contacted the Ceará Civil Police and the Metal Week festival for more information on the case, but received no response until this text was published. The space remains open.
