New version of “Let’s Get It On” features unreleased tracks and sessions with the arranger of “What’s Going On”
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Let’s Get It Onin Marvin GayeThe motown launches a special version of the album on August 25th. This is a deluxe edition, exclusively digital, with more than a dozen previously unreleased recordings. In addition, alternative takes and mixes, individual versions, new remixes and demos are included in the release. Some of them were on the reissue released in 2001, which will be replaced on streaming platforms by this year’s version.
One of the biggest novelties are the recordings of the Gaye with David Van DePittearranger of “What’s Going On“, as well as some just vocals from the year of release, dubbed vulnerable.
To celebrate the album, which went down in music history, the Grammy Museum will host on August 23, which will be attended by Smokey Robinson, jimmy jam and the biographer of Gaye, David. ritz.
