The new single, ‘Coração Dilacerado’, is inspired by Jards Macalé
What comes after the abyss? Coração Dilaceado, the new single by Rio de Janeiro singer, songwriter and director Mihay, reconstructs the path of shock, despair, pain, desperation, vulnerability and other heartbreaking as well as saving feelings that we all go through after the end. These are the steps we must take in the face of ruptures, paradigm shifts, separations, losses. The song was written by Mihay during the pandemic, based on the loneliness of someone forced to be alone. But its meanings transcend that period. They overflow. Torn Heart arrives on music platforms today, August 24th. And it is the second exhibition of the album Maré Vermelha, whose release is scheduled for September.
“The song Coração Dilacerado – and especially the video I made for it – invites you to dive into it,” says Mihay. “When the texts speak of a tide full of pain, they refer to an internal tide, to the humours contained in 70% of the water we carry in our bodies. The calm, hangover moments in the clip come from the sea, but they also come from within us. At one point, the images seem to transform the sea into arteries that pump the heart at the same revolting rhythm as the waves”.

The track was produced by Lucas Vasconcellos and Marcus Preto, with musical direction and arrangement by Lucas and artistic direction by Preto. And it features Robson Riva on drums and percussion and Guilherme Held on guitar and noise.
“It’s one of the more Jardsmacalenian tracks on the album. And Jards’ 70s phase density was our absolute reference for the poetic and musical climate we wanted to achieve,” says Marcus Preto. “Lucas threw himself headlong and was accurate in the arrangement, underlined by the guitar of Gui Held, a figure who understands everything in this universe.”
The cover of the single was made by Daniel Guedes based on a photo by Adriano Fagundes. Coração Dilacerado comes one month after the release of Coração no Lixo, the first single from “Maré Vermelha”. The debut track featured Assucena and Thiago Pethit and is now available on music platforms.

texts
Broken heart
(Mihay)
Then give me back my heart
Pick up the remaining pieces
You want a tide full of heartache
collects scars
My broken heart on the floor
my broken heart
My broken heart on the floor
My heart from there will be
Don’t mistreat a heart
That makes a river of tears overflow
which is a punching bag
collects bruises
My broken heart on the floor
my broken heart
My broken heart on the floor
My heart from there will be
