While Cannibal Corpse’s songs portray the most abject acts possible, Corpsegrinder is 100% off-stage love.
Who is faced with Cannibal Corpse at first, in general, he doesn’t usually think such good things about the band and its members. In addition to the extreme sound, oriented towards death metal, the American group bets on lyrics with strong themes.
With explicit reports of violence, the compositions are commonly inspired by films or other productions of the horror genre. This has already caused the band to be banned from releasing albums or playing shows in certain countries, such as Russia and Germany, as well as getting them into trouble in the United States, to the point that politicians have tried to undermine their career.
However, the Cannibal Corpse managed to stay active and, for more than three decades, has been releasing his songs and touring the world — with the right to several visits to Brazil. And this is especially due to the fact that the members have drawn a very clear line separating what is fictionally portrayed in the songs and what they do in real life.
the vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher he is the one who gives the most examples of how the fictitious message of the group has nothing to do with the attitude of its members. Philanthropist, the singer does what he can to help especially children with health problems.
Its most recent action took place this August. As published on their social networks (via the website Igor Miranda), Corpsegrinder (a nickname that can be roughly translated as “Corpse Grinder”) donated seven bags full of stuffed animals to the children’s hospital Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, located in St. Pete, Florida. The toys were captured by himself, who is “addicted” — and 100% adept — at the famous catch machines.
Very proud, the singer posed for a photo where he holds a kind of certificate, in which the institution recognizes and thanks for the improvement. In the caption, he says:
“Many thanks to the entire hospital staff! They gave us a certificate of appreciation, but in all honesty, they deserve one, plus much, much more for their tireless efforts to help children.”
Corpsegrinder and the stuffed animal catching machines
Generally, the philanthropic deeds of Corpsegrinder are not disclosed on social networks. The vocalist of Cannibal Corpse ended up making an exception this time.
However, he has spoken on other occasions about how he relates one of his hobbies to doing good for others. In a 2021 interview with metal hammer, for example, he said he has already received 12 consecutive awards for a machine to catch stuffed animals, such is his skill. And, of course, most achievements are donated.
Corpsegrinder is a card-carrying philanthropist and uses a lot of the skill developed to help. In 2021, he told Metal Hammer:
“I’ve toured with three garbage bags full of stuffed animals I’ve been given. Most of the things I earn I donate to my daughters primary school or to the mall close to home. There was a lady collecting toys to sell and raise money for St. Jude’s, a children’s hospital in Memphis. I gave her four bags full of stuffed animals that I got. She was almost crying!”
