If you watched the The Town — whether at the Autódromo de Interlagos, or on television at home —, you must have recognized that one of the songs on the setlist of Joss Stone was also included in the iconic Lungs (2009), from Florence + The Machine. But without further ado: “You Got The Love” is not authored by Joss Stonenor of Florence Welch.

Candi Staton is the one who takes part of the credits, alongside Anthony B. Stephens, Arnecia Michelle Harris It is John Bellamy, who would be the composers. She recorded the song in 1986 for a video about an obese man’s efforts to lose weight. The vinyl with “You Got The Love” was released under the label of an anonymous record label (via Independent UK).
Years later, in 1991, the composition received a remix that reached the UK Top Five that year, and then staton was contacted. The singer denied any involvement with the song, but when she hung up the phone, she realized: “It was the song from the diet video”, she recalled.
