On the contrary Snoop Dogg, Ed Sheeran is one of the few artists in the industry whose trademark is not substance use – but that doesn’t mean the singer has never had the experience. Sheeran recalled the first time he smoked with Snoop on the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.
The episode happened shortly after Sheeran attend a presentation of Snoop Dogg in Melbourne, Australia, with wife Cherry Seaborn and his mother. After the show, the group met the rapper backstage – which included other actors such as Russell Crowe.
“I don’t really smoke,” he admitted Sheeranwho couldn’t help but want to get high with Snoop. “I was in the dressing room and they were [fumando] cigarette by cigarette, and I thought ‘I guess at some point in the night I have to do it, just to say, ‘I smoked with Snoop Dogg.’”
After drinking some wine and chatting with Snoop, the moment finally presented itself. “He asked ‘Do you want some?’ and I thought, ‘Now is the time. We were having a good conversation,” he recalled. Sheeran.
So I ate some and thought, ‘I don’t feel so bad. That is good.’ So I smoked some more, and some more… I just remember looking at it and thinking, ‘I can’t see right now.'”
Although it is not the experience to which Sheeran is used to it, it is safe to say that he was not disappointed: “I would be disappointed if [Snoop] I wasn’t high.”
Since then, he has found himself surrounded by marijuana smoke with another rapper as well. “There is an artist I work with a lot called Burna Boyand I would say that was the most I’ve ever seen anyone ingest marijuana,” he said.
